Research by LUMS Faculty Published in VoxDev Highlights Role of Mobility in Women’s Economic Participation
LUMS is delighted to share that Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Farooq Naseer, Assistant Professor, have published an article in VoxDev titled, “When Women Can’t Move Freely and Easily, They Can’t Participate in the Labour Force.' VoxDev is a leading international platform that brings rigorous academic research to policymakers and civil society in developing countries in an accessible and actionable format.
The article draws on their academic paper, “Glass Walls: Experimental Evidence on Constraints Faced by Women in Accessing Valuable Skilling Opportunities,” which is forthcoming in the Journal of Political Economy, one of the top five economics journals globally.
Their research provides rigorous experimental evidence on the barriers women face in accessing valuable skilling opportunities and highlights the critical role of mobility in shaping women’s economic participation.
This publication reflects the continued contribution of LUMS faculty to globally relevant research that informs policy and advances understanding of key development challenges.
