Celebrating a Legacy Across Generations: Syed Babar Ali and Family Unveil Newly Named Academic Spaces at LUMS
LUMS commemorated the inauguration of two academic spaces on campus by its Founding Pro Chancellor, Syed Babar Ali, in a memorable ceremony that reflected legacy, leadership, and a deep commitment to education.


Attended by multiple generations of his family, Syed Babar Ali, alongside his son, Syed Hyder Ali, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, unveiled the Syed Maratib Ali Auditorium at the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) and the Mubarak Begum Lecture Room in the Academic Block.

Adding a special touch to the occasion, the youngest members of the family participated in unveiling the plaques, symbolising continuity, legacy, and the enduring impact of the institution’s founding vision.

The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, and the Director of the Office of Advancement, Ali Ibrahim, alongside members of the LUMS community
Shared across generations, the event served as a powerful reminder of how foundations laid decades ago continue to shape the leaders of tomorrow. The newly inaugurated spaces stand as a tribute to family, heritage, and a lifelong dedication to excellence in education.
