Dr. Hadia Majid (BSc 2005) Featured by the International Economic Association
LUMS is proud to share that Dr. Hadia Majid (BSc 2005), Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS), has been recognised as a Featured Economist by the International Economic Association.
Dr. Majid’s research lies at the intersection of gender, labour markets, and development economics, with a particular focus on how economic and policy constraints shape access to decent and empowering work in Pakistan. Her work contributes to a deeper understanding of inequalities within labour markets and highlights pathways toward more inclusive economic growth.
A Fulbright scholar, Dr. Majid holds a PhD in Economics from The Ohio State University and has worked extensively with international organisations and policy institutions. Her research spans issues such as women’s economic participation, household decision-making, and the impact of public policy on socio-economic outcomes.
Her feature by the IEA underscores the growing global recognition of LUMS faculty and their contributions to advancing evidence-based research that informs policy and development practice.
We congratulate Dr. Majid on this achievement and look forward to her continued contributions to the field of economics.
