About the Speaker:
Syed Qasim Abbas is a Judicial Fellow at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands. He is the first Pakistani to be selected from a Pakistani institution for this prestigious programme since its inception and is currently working with H.E. Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf of Somalia. Qasim (BA-LL.B., Class of 2024) graduated from LUMS with high distinction, securing first position and receiving the NMF Gold Medal. During his time at LUMS, he remained on the Dean’s Honour List and was widely recognised by faculty and peers for his exceptional academic performance and commitment to extracurricular service. He has also completed his Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Harvard Law School. His academic and research interests focus on Public International Law, the International Law of the Sea, and International Humanitarian Law.
